Terms & conditions.

These terms cover estimates, payments, our workmanship guarantee and the general basis on which we work.

1. Who we are

Barnett's Bespoke is a sole-trader business operated by Charles Barnett (Charlie Barnett), trading from Great Hormead Hall, Hall Lane, Great Hormead, Buntingford, SG9 0NZ.

2. Estimates

Site visits and written estimates are provided free of charge. Estimates are valid for 30 days from issue and are based on the scope discussed at the site visit. Where drawings or design work are required for a complex project, those are quoted separately — and the fee is deducted from the final job cost if you proceed.

3. Contracts

Larger projects are undertaken under a written contract agreed and signed before any work begins. Smaller jobs proceed on the basis of an accepted written estimate.

4. Payments

Smaller jobs (up to approximately £10,000) are staged: 10% to secure the diary, 40% before start (materials) and 50% on completion.

Larger builds are staged through contract signing, foundations, watertight and sign-off. The full breakdown is agreed in writing before any work begins.

All invoices are payable within 7 days unless a longer period is agreed in writing.

5. Materials & warranties

Materials are supplied to the specification agreed in the estimate. Manufacturer warranties on supplied products (windows, doors, appliances, ironmongery etc.) are passed to you and are administered by the manufacturer.

6. Workmanship guarantee

All installation work is covered by a 12-month workmanship guarantee. This covers any errors or defects in installation (rectified free of charge), loose connections in first- and second-fix carpentry, and consequential damage caused by improper fitting.

The guarantee does not cover wear and tear, neglect, third-party alterations or material defects (which are covered by the manufacturer's warranty on the products supplied).

7. Insurance

We carry £1,000,000 of public liability insurance. A copy of the current certificate is available on request.

8. Variations

Any changes to the agreed scope will be priced and agreed in writing before the additional work is carried out.

9. Cancellation

Where a deposit has been paid to secure the diary, that deposit is non-refundable if the project is cancelled less than 14 days before the agreed start date. Materials already ordered specifically for the job are chargeable in full.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
